There is a superb API provided by Qualys which is free to use and helps automate using the widely popular site https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/ The documentation for which is https://github.com/ssllabs/ssllabs-scan/blob/master/ssllabs-api-docs.md

The API brings back a large JSON document but from day-to-day you are really chasing the grade and the weak areas that people know about.

So I wrapped it using the basic python I am familiar with.
