Yay, I actually bought Parallels. With the future of CentOS limited now, I have been reflecting on various flavours of Linux. If you are installing current versions you have to be careful and refer to the compatibility table. Parallels toolbox was something that I determined was key for me – so I could cut-and-paste between my Mac desktop.
I’ve eventually favoured Ubuntu 18 Bionic Beaver because although not quite current , it offered additonal useful apps whatsapp, signal, pulsesecure vpn, telegram.
The latest Fedora 32 looks great, but as soon as you patch the kernel you have parallels tools breaks. If you patch the kernel your tools needs to compile kernel modules, you will be stuffed.
FreeBSD was never going to have Parallels toolbox on it but I have been reminded what a pleasure it was to feel a little more involved in the building of a machine. I will be spending more time with this one.
Elementary OS 5.1 is very appealing – it just had lots of issues such as suspending or freezing – disable 3D Acceleration – but still pauses oddly. But I can see I should have tried the older Elementary OS 5.0.
